About this place
Iriomote Togyo Co., Ltd. is a sugar manufacturing company headquartered in Urasoe, Okinawa Prefecture. It produces non-centrifugal sugar (kokuto, brown sugar) at the Iriomote Sugar Factory in eastern Iriomote Island of the Yaeyama Islands (333-41 Haemi, Taketomi-cho, Yaeyama District, Okinawa Prefecture). Nominal capacity 100 t/day. Sugar output in the 2017/18 season was 1,639 t. This factory was built by Taketomi Town on the site of the old factory and completed in 2015, with a total floor area of 4,396 m2, steel-frame two stories, and a total project cost of about 2.972 billion yen.
