About this place
Koransha Co., Ltd. (KORANSHA Co., Ltd.) is a ceramics maker with head office and factory in Arita, Nishimatsuura District, Saga Prefecture. Its main products are high-grade ceramics and insulators. In addition to Arita, it also has a factory in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture. It was established in 1879 by Fukagawa Eizaemon (8th) and others, who made use of the local Arita-yaki (Imari-yaki) techniques to produce porcelain electrical insulators for the first time in Japan. It is said to be the first corporation established in Kyushu.
