About this place
Suwa Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a sake maker with its head office in Chizu, Chizu, Yatsuka District, Tottori Prefecture. It was founded in 1859 (Ansei 6) at the end of the Edo period, when a forebear who had run an inn at the Chizu post town, which flourished as a stop for the alternate-attendance processions, started a small sake brewery. The company name and brand come from the nearby Suwa Shrine.
