Choshu Shuzo in Shimonoseki. A newly built brewery, with the Tenbi brand.
About this place
Choshu Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a sake maker in Kikugawa, Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, that brews the sake Tenbi. It was originally Kodama Shuzo Co., Ltd., founded in 1871 (Meiji 4) and the last sake brewery remaining in the Kikugawa area, which brewed the regular sake Nagato Kikugawa for over 100 years. When the sixth-generation head, Kodama Tsuyoshi, grew old, he stopped brewing and for about 15 years made a modest living selling other makers' sake under the Nagato Kikugawa label.
