One of the four Kannon of Owari. It guards the demon gate of Nagoya Castle.
About this place
Ryusenji is a temple of the Tendai school in Ryusenji, Moriyama Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. It is called Shodozan Daigyoin. It is one of the Four Owari Kannon temples that protect Nagoya Castle, and Temple No. 25 of the Owari 33 Kannon pilgrimage. The principal image is Batto Kannon (Horse-headed Kannon). According to the Shasekishu, Ryusenji in Owari is a temple that the Dragon King built in a single night, and the site of the pond from which the Horse-headed Kannon emerged is said to be visible.
