About this place
Taisanji is a Shingon-sect temple in Koizumi, Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. Its mountain and sub-temple names are Kinrinzan Chokuoin. The principal image is Jizo Bodhisattva. It is Temple No. 56 of the 88 Temples of Shikoku. Principal image mantra: On kakakabi sanmaei sowaka Goeika (pilgrim's hymn): All people come to pray, and so Taisanji, entrusting their guidance in the next life According to the temple's records, when Kukai (Kobo Daishi) visited this area in the rainy season of 815 (Konin 6), the Soja River was flooding, which the village believed to be the curse of an evil spirit.
