About this place
Koonji is an independent Shingon-affiliated temple (formerly of the Omuro sect) in Minamikawa, Komatsu-cho, Saijo, Ehime Prefecture. Its mountain name is Sendanzan and its subtemple name is Kyoin. The principal image is Dainichi Nyorai. It is Temple No. 61 of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage and is well loved as the temple of Koyasu Daishi.
