About this place
Maegamiji is the head temple of the Shingon Ishizuchi sect in Suno-uchi, Saijo, Ehime Prefecture. Its mountain name is Ishizuchisan and its subtemple name is Konjikiin. The principal image is Amida Nyorai. It is Temple No. 64 of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. It stands at the foot of the sacred Mt. Ishizuchi (1,982 m), one of the Seven Sacred Mountains of Japan.
