About this place
Koshoji is a temple in Shiromawari, Uchiko, Ehime Prefecture. It is located at the top of the Yokaichi-Gokoku district (a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings). Its mountain name is Gokokusan, its sect is Soto, and its principal image is the Sho Kannon Bodhisattva. It is Temple No. 50 of the Shin-Shikoku Mandala Pilgrimage. Goeika (pilgrim's hymn): The festival of Nehan-e still continues today; a temple of the camphor tree overlooking the townscape In 1441 (Kakitsu 1), Daiko Enchu of Boshu founded Jokyuji on the site of Joukyuji.
