About this place
Hanitsu Shrine is a shrine in Inawashiro, Yama District, Fukushima. It enshrines Hoshina Masayuki, the first lord of the Aizu Domain in Mutsu. Hanitsu Shrine was built in 1675 (Enpo 3) at the burial site of Hoshina Masayuki, who was buried at Mineyama at the foot of Mount Bandai. The name "Hanitsu" derives from the fact that when Masayuki was given the innermost teachings of Yoshikawa Shinto by Yoshikawa Koretari in 1671 (Kanbun 11), he was sent the divine name "Hanitsu".
