A double-helix ramp. People going up and coming down never pass each other, in a building rare anywhere in the world.
About this place
A sazaedo (sazaedo, also read sazaido) is a Buddhist hall of a distinctive architectural style seen from the Tohoku to the Kanto region in the late Edo period. The interior is a spiral corridor, with the 33 Kannon, 100 Kannon and others arranged along the route, so that simply walking through the hall completes a pilgrimage.
