Its golden hall is a National Treasure. When the atomic bomb destroyed the buildings of the city, this hall survived.
About this place
Fudoin is a temple of the Shingon sect (Hiroshima Prefecture Shingon Order), a special head temple, in Higashi Ward, Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture. The principal image is Yakushi Nyorai. Its mountain name is Shinnichisan. It is said to be one of the Ankokuji Rishoto pagodas established in the provinces by the brothers Ashikaga Takauji and Tadayoshi (Ankokuji of Aki Province). It is a member temple of the Nationwide Ankokuji Association. It is also said to have been founded by Gyoki, but there are various theories about its founding date and origins. From the style of the principal Yakushi Nyorai statue, it is inferred to have been founded by the Heian period.
