About this place
Dasai Shrine is a shrine at the foot of Mount Higuma in Miyoshi, Hiroshima Prefecture. Its main deity is Konohanasakuyahime no Mikoto, with Amatsuhiko-hikoho-ninigi no Mikoto and Oyamazumi no Kami enshrined alongside. It is said to have been founded in 808 (Daido 3) by transferring the deity from Fukiage Island in Aoyagi Village, Kando District, Izumo Province. It was long revered by the Miyoshi clan, the local lords, but after taking the western side as retainers of the Mori family at the Battle of Sekigahara, the clan was dispossessed after the war. Afterwards it was revered by Fukushima Masanori, who became lord of Aki Province, and by Asano Nagaharu, who became lord of Miyoshi.
