A legend tells that Michizane stopped at Suma and the fishermen made him a seat from a coil of rope.
About this place
Tsunashiki Tenmangu is a shrine (Tenmangu) in Suma Ward, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. Its former shrine rank was village shrine. Sugawara no Michizane According to tradition, when Sugawara no Michizane stopped here on his way into exile at Dazaifu, local fishermen made a round seat for him out of rope. The shrine is said to have been founded in 979 (Tengen 2), as the Tenjin faith spread. Similar legends are also preserved at other Tsunashiki Tenmangu shrines. 2-1-11 Tenjincho, Suma Ward, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture
