The first shrine of Rikuchu Province. It grew from mountain worship of Mount Komagatake and is tied to the faith of horse country.
About this place
Komagata Shrine is a shrine in Iwate Prefecture. It consists of the main shrine in Mizusawa Nakaueno-cho, Oshu, the inner shrine on the summit of Mount Komagatake in Nishine, Kanegasaki, Isawa District, and the village shrine in Hinakozawa, Nishine, Kanegasaki, Isawa District. It is an Engishiki-listed shrine and its former shrine rank was Kokuhei Shosha; it is now a Beppyo Shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. It is the ichinomiya of Rikuchu Province. Its six deities, collectively called "Komagata Okami", are as follows. Amaterasu Omikami Ame no Tokotachi no Mikoto Kuni no Sakotachi no Mikoto
