The start of the Yoshida trail up Mount Fuji. This was the road the Fuji-ko pilgrims of the Edo period took to the summit. A component of the Fujisan World Cultural Heritage site.
About this place
Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is a shrine in Kamiyoshida, Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi. Its former shrine rank was prefectural shrine, and it is now a Beppyo Shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. It is the starting point of the Yoshida route for climbing Mount Fuji, and is registered as a World Cultural Heritage site as part of "Fujisan Area", one of the component assets of "Fujisan, Object of Worship and Wellspring of Artistic Inspiration".
