About this place
Mikurodo is a sea cave in Murotomisaki-cho, Muroto, Kochi Prefecture, associated with the legend of Kobo Daishi. Near the tip of Cape Muroto, two sea caves, Mikurodo and Shinmeikutsu, stand side by side, and together they are sometimes called Mikurado. It is near Hotsumisakiji, one of the Shikoku 88 Temples, and is one of the extra-numbered (bangai) pilgrimage sites. It is listed among the 100 Soundscapes of Japan. This entry also describes the neighboring Shinmeikutsu.
