About this place
Ichijo Shrine is a shrine in Nakamura Honmachi, Shimanto, Kochi Prefecture. Its former shrine rank was prefectural shrine. Its crest is 'sagari-fuji' (hanging wisteria). It stands on the summit of Komoriyama in the centre of the former city of Nakamura, on the site of the Ichijo clan's residence, and enshrines the ancestral deity and family of the Tosa Ichijo clan. The spirits of Ichijo Norifusa, successive heads of the Tosa Ichijo clan and their branch families The present shrine site was once the Nakamura Gosho of the Tosa Ichijo clan, who ruled the area in the Sengoku period and laid the foundations of the town of Nakamura.
