About this place

Hanabushi Shrine is a shrine in Shichigahama, Miyagi District, Miyagi. It is an Engishiki-listed shrine (Myojin Taisha) and its former shrine rank was village shrine. It stands on Tarumizuyama, on the Sendai Bay side at the eastern end of the Shichigahama Peninsula, which divides Matsushima Bay from Sendai Bay. It is worshiped as a guardian of sea routes for its virtue in ensuring safety at sea. Sarutahiko no Mikoto - Funado no Kami According to the "Hanabushi Daimyojin Goengi" written in 1738 (Gembun 3), the shrine's name comes from the fact that Sarutahiko no Mikoto's nose was high and had a knot (fushi).
