About this place
Hirado Xavier Memorial Church is a Catholic church and sanctuary in Kagamigawacho, Hirado, Nagasaki Prefecture. The church's patron is the Archangel St. Michael, but in 1971 (Showa 46) a statue of Xavier was erected beside the sanctuary to commemorate St. Francis Xavier's three visits to Hirado, and it came to be called "St. Francis Xavier Memorial Church"; it was later renamed to its present name.
