About this place
Kaijin Shrine (Watatsumi-jinja, popularly Kaijin-jinja) is a shrine in Kisaka, Mine-cho, Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture. It is a candidate shrine for an Engishiki-listed shrine (Myojin Taisha) and the Ichinomiya of Tsushima Province. Its former shrine rank was Kokuhei Chusha (medium-sized state-supported shrine), and it is now a Beppyo Shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. It is a candidate shrine for the Engishiki-listed Myojin Taisha "Watatsumi Shrine" and "Watatsumi Miko Shrine," and for the Engishiki-listed Kokuhei Shosha "Koroku Shrine" and "Koroku Miko Shrine" (each of which has several candidate shrines).
