About this place
Harimizu Utaki (Miyako dialect: Pyarumizu Utaki) is an utaki in Nishizato, Hirara, Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture. Its alternative name is 'Tsukasaya'. It enshrines two deities, male and female, Koitsuno and Koitama. It is an utaki that has been worshipped since before the founding of the Ryukyu Kingdom (1429) and is the setting of many myths and legends, including the creation myth of Miyakojima. After Miyakojima was created, a god called Koitsuno and a goddess called Koitama descended from heaven to Harimizu with many gods in attendance.
