The westernmost island in Japan. A clifftop lookout that was a place of prayer from ancient times.
About this place
Tindabana is a landform on central Yonaguni Island, Yonaguni, Yaeyama District, Okinawa Prefecture, formed by the intersection of fault scarps. It is also called Tindahanata. It was designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty on October 6, 2014. It is a cliff 85 metres high rising like a folding screen in the south-west of the Sonai district in western Yonaguni, forming a sheer cliff about 70 metres high between it and the settlement. For this reason Tindabana is a natural viewing platform overlooking the Sonai district, Nanta Beach and the East China Sea.
