About this place
Yodohime Shrine is a shrine in Saga, Saga Prefecture. It is a shrine listed in the Engishiki and the Ichinomiya of Hizen Province; its former shrine rank was prefectural shrine. It is also written 'Yodohime Shrine' with other characters, has the alternative name 'Kawakami Shrine', and is popularly called 'Yodohime-san'. According to the surviving fragments of the Hizen no Kuni Fudoki (headnote to the register of shrine names), the deity Yodohime was enshrined on November 1 in the 25th year of Emperor Kinmei (564?).
