About this place
Hamamatsu Hachimangu is a shrine located in Hachimancho, Naka Ward, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. Its origin is said to be Kobe Shrine, an Engishiki-listed shrine. In the reign of Emperor Nintoku, Tamayorihime no Mikoto, deity of sea transport, was enshrined in the village of Kobe (now around Ozawatari-cho, Naka Ward) to calm Tootomi, and the Engishiki of the Heian period records it as Kobe Shrine.
