Overview
The sacred pond at the tip of the cape is fresh water, though ringed by sea. The fishermen of Suruga Bay revered it.
About this place
Hikitechikara no Mikoto Shrine is a shrine at Osezaki in Nishiura Eri, Numazu, Shizuoka. Its former shrine rank was Engishiki-listed shrine (claimant to Kokuhei Shosha) and village-district shrine. It draws the reverence of fishermen along Suruga Bay. The "Hikitechikara no Mikoto Shrine" recorded in the Engishiki register of deities is often identified with this shrine, but there is another shrine in the former Tagata District of Izu Province, Hikitajikarao Shrine, in Toso, Ito, Shizuoka (north foot of Mount Omuro).
