About this place
Tokko no Yu is a historic bathing facility in Shuzenji Onsen, Izu, Shizuoka. It is said to be the oldest hot spring in Izu. It stands in the middle of the Shuzenji River (popularly called the Katsura River) flowing through the hot spring district, and its bath is raised on a foundation of rocks and large stones so that visitors can enjoy the hot water. Bathing was once possible, but it is now prohibited because it is not legally positioned as a bathing facility. Nearby is Tokko no Yu Park, which has a foot bath, 'River Terrace Sugi no Yu' (a 'foot water' bath has been offered in summer only since 2023).
