About this place
Dairenji is a Jodo-sect Buddhist temple in the Utsubuki-Tamagawa district of Kurayoshi, Tottori Prefecture. It is known for the graves of successive generations of the wealthy merchant Yodoya Seibei and as a temple associated with the warrior Wakiya Yoshisuke. It is said to have originated from Dairenji, founded in the Yoro era (717-723) at Hokaimon, at the foot of Mount Kedo next to the east of Mount Utsubuki. In the Tensho era (1573-1592), the priest Zenrensha Nen'yo Shonin Bun'o merged three nearby temples, took the position of founding priest, and built the temple complex at its present site along the Tamagawa River.
