About this place
Taineiji is a Soto-sect temple in Nagato, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Its mountain name is Zuiun Banzeisan. Its formal name is Zuiun Banzeisan Tainei Gokoku Zenji. The current head priest (as of 2023) is Iwata Hiroyasu, former president of Yamaguchi Prefectural University. It is said that in 1410 (Oei 17), Washuzu Hirotada, a member of the Ouchi clan and lord of Fukawa Castle in Nagato Province, invited the Zen priest Sekiya Shinryo of Sojiji in Noto Province and built Kofukuji, the predecessor of Taineiji, within the castle.
