A temple in Toyokawa counted among Japan's three great Inari, a Soto Zen temple properly called Myogonji.
About this place
Toyokawa Inari is a Soto Zen temple in Toyokawa-cho, Toyokawa, Aichi Prefecture.
Its official temple name is Myogon-ji. More fully, it is called Enpukuzan Myogon-ji or Toyokawakaku Myogon-ji. Because of the way the secret Buddhist image enshrined in the precincts, Toyokawa Dakini Shinten, is depicted carrying a sheaf of rice, it came to be commonly known as 'Toyokawa Inari.' Although Toyokawa Inari is not a Shinto shrine, a torii gate stands on the approach within the precincts.
