About this place
Kusanagikan, the Treasury of Swords, is a sword museum within the grounds of Atsuta Jingu in Atsuta Ward, Nagoya.
Atsuta Jingu enshrines the sacred sword Kusanagi, one of the Three Sacred Treasures, as its object of worship, and holds about 450 swords that have been dedicated since ancient times. For details, see the Cultural Properties section of Atsuta Jingu and the section on the Atsuta Jingu Museum.
It was built specifically for displaying swords as part of the celebratory projects commemorating the accession of Emperor Naruhito.
