Overview
A site in Nagoya where timber was gathered for the building of Nagoya Castle.
About this place
A historic site in Shiratori Park, Atsuta Ward, Nagoya. The area from Shiratori Garden to the International Conference Hall was once a large timber yard. It is said to have begun when Fukushima Masanori dug a large pond as a storage place for materials for building Nagoya Castle, and as a timber yard directly controlled by the Owari domain it became the birthplace of Japan's timber trade.
