About this place
Bunka no Michi Hyakka Hyakuso is a facility in Higashi Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. The former Okaya residence. It was the residence of the Okaya family, founders of Okaya & Co., but stood vacant for a long time. The study (shoin), tea room and storehouse built in 1920 (Taisho 9) were renovated, and a hall was newly built on the site of the main house, opening in April 2007 (Heisei 19) as 'Bunka no Michi Hyakka Hyakuso.' The name comes from the 'Hyakka Hyakuso-zu Byobu' (folding screen of a hundred flowers and a hundred plants) by Totsugen Tanaka, once owned by the Okaya family and donated to the Tokugawa Art Museum.
