About this place
The annex and garden of the old Miyakoshi family house in Aomori. Within the grounds are buildings such as the annex, the main house, a book storehouse and a rice storehouse, along with a garden, all cultural properties about a century old. Shimuan and Seisenen were built in 1920 (Taisho 9) by Masaharu, the ninth head of the Miyakoshi family, for his wife Iha. Seisenen has three types of garden, the Oishi Bugaku-style garden, a dry landscape garden and a pond garden, surrounding Shimuan.
