Overview
The oldest spring in the Kuroishi hot-spring district, with guest houses still ringing the communal bathhouse.
About this place
The oldest hot spring in the Kuroishi Onsen area in Kuroishi, Aomori. With a history of over 400 years, it is also considered the birthplace of Nuruyu kokeshi (traditional Tsugaru-style kokeshi dolls). Legend says that a wounded crane kept bathing and recovered, which revealed the spring. In 1624 Tadanaga Kazan'in bathed here, and it was named Nuruyu ("warm water") because the warmth lasts long.
