About this place
Japan's oldest apple trees is the name given to three old European apple trees growing in Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture. Three of the saplings planted in 1878 (Meiji 11) remain, and they are regarded as the oldest apple trees in Japan. The three trees were designated a Natural Monument of Aomori Prefecture in 1960 (Showa 35) under the name Ringo no Ki (apple trees). They are also called the apple trees of Kashiwamura, after the former municipality name.
