Overview
A shore in Katsuura where a white torii stands on the rocks, chosen among Japan's hundred finest shores.
About this place
A beach in Uhara, Katsuura, Chiba Prefecture, selected among the Nihon no Nagisa Hyakusen (100 Best Japanese Beaches). It is lively as a swimming beach in summer and is also popular as a fishing spot. The large 'White Torii' standing on the beach is the first torii of Yasaka Shrine, and its figure facing the sea gives a solemn impression. Nearby is Uhara Risokyo, where hiking is possible. It is about a 5-minute walk from Uhara Station on the JR Sotobo Line.
