About this place
A white lighthouse standing at the tip of Cape Inubo, which juts into the Pacific Ocean at the easternmost point of the Choshi Peninsula in Choshi, Chiba Prefecture. Completed in 1874 to a design by the British engineer Brunton, it was the first structure built of domestic brick, and in 2020 it was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Chosen among the '100 Lighthouses of the World' and the '50 Lighthouses of Japan', it is a climbable lighthouse, and a 99-step spiral staircase leads up to the lantern room.
