About this place
Bansuiso is a French-style mansion standing in the center of Matsuyama, the prefectural capital of Ehime Prefecture. It is located at the south foot of Shiroyama, Matsuyama Castle's hill. It is designated an Important Cultural Property. Before the abolition of the domains, the territory of Matsuyama was that of the Matsuyama Domain, said to be 150,000 koku. Bansuiso is the villa built in 1922 by Sadakoto Hisamatsu, a descendant of the main family of the Matsuyama domain lords, who held the rank of count.
