Overview
Granite boulders on the shore at Matsuyama, held by tradition to have stacked themselves.
About this place
A group of huge granite boulders floating on the sea surface in Matsuyama. It was found that on a few days around the spring and autumn equinoxes the setting sun shines into a cavity in the center of the rock, and research is under way on whether it was an ancient solar observatory. An arrangement indicating the winter and summer solstices has also been found. Shiraishi Ryujin Shrine is enshrined on the shore.
