A museum in a building raised in 1922 as the Ministry of Communications' Electrical Testing Laboratory, Fukushima Testing Station. It has shown photography since 2003.
About this place
The Fukushima City Museum of Photography (nickname: Hana no Shashinkan, the Flower Photo Gallery) is an art museum in Fukushima, Fukushima Prefecture, mainly intended to display photographs. It is also known as the Flower Photo Gallery. It opened on 15 April 2003 (Heisei 15) at the foot of Mount Shinobu in central Fukushima. The photographer Akiyama Shotaro introduced Hanamiyama Park in Watari, Fukushima, to the whole country as a place where "Fukushima has a Shangri-La," contributing to Fukushima's tourism, and in October 2001 (Heisei 13) he was awarded the Fukushima City Furusato Honor Award. On that occasion he donated works, and this facility opened.
