About this place
Yamatsumi Shrine is a shrine in Iitate, Soma District, Fukushima Prefecture. It is also called Toratori Yamatsumi Shrine. It enshrines Oyamatsumi no Kami, the mountain god. According to its history, in the reign of Emperor Go-Ichijo there was a violent outlaw called Tachibana no Sumitora, who was born and raised in the village of Mano. Sumitora was extraordinarily large in body and also had mysterious powers.
