Overview
A weeping cherry where a Jizo image was received from Tochigi in 1851, long held to guard safe birth and the raising of children.
About this place
A weeping cherry beside the Nobiu Jizo. This Jizo was invited in Kaei 4 (1851) from the Nobiu Jizo of Joko-ji in Haga, Tochigi Prefecture. The Jizo is worshipped as a guardian of safe childbirth and child rearing, and in the Oibara hamlet there is a custom of hanging a red bib with the child's name on the Jizo when a child is born, praying for growth. The cherry blooms as if enveloping the Jizo.
