Lake Shima and Oku-Shima in Nakanojo. The water looks blue, and the colour is called Shima Blue.
About this place
Lake Shima, at the entrance to Shima Onsen in Gunma, and Lake Oku-Shima, at its deepest part. Both are reservoirs created by the construction of Shimagawa Dam and Nakanojo Dam. The lake water changes color several times a day with the light and time of day, and the blues, such as cobalt blue and turquoise blue, are called "Shima Blue." In the green season, SUP and canoe tours are also held.
