A hot spring in Shibukawa, with inns and shops lining both sides of a stone stair of 365 steps.
About this place
A hot spring area in Ikaho, Gunma, mentioned in the Manyoshu and Kokin Wakashu, with a history of over 400 years as a spa-cure place. It has two kinds of springs, the brownish "Golden Water" and the colorless, clear "Silver Water," and it is also known as the birthplace of yu no hana manju (hot spring buns). The symbol of the hot spring town is the 365 stone steps, flanked by inns, souvenir shops, tea houses and game parlors.
