About this place
A Nikka Whisky distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaido. You can see the tradition of coal direct-fired distillation and buildings that are Important Cultural Properties of Japan; operations began in 1934. It lies at the base of the Shakotan Peninsula, the place Masataka Taketsuru chose for making whisky. Hours: 9:15-16:15; closed December 23 to January 7 of the following year, and June 11.
