About this place
A gorge in Kamui-cho, Asahikawa. One of the Eight Views of Asahikawa, carved by the rapids of the Ishikari River, and known as an Ainu sacred place. The name means "the place where the gods dwell" in Ainu, and it lies on the boundary where the Ishikari River flows out of the Kamikawa Basin onto the Ishikari Plain. Highlights are strange rock formations and a historic station building. Free admission; parking: 30 spaces.
