About this place
A paradise for wild birds spreading across northeastern Tomakomai. It was designated in 1981 as Japan's first wildlife protection area (bird sanctuary). Migratory birds such as whooper swans and greater white-fronted geese arrive from autumn to winter, and a great variety of wild birds live here. The Nature Center is open only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; admission free.
