About this place
Kiku-Masamune Sake Brewing Co., Ltd. is a Japanese sake brewing company headquartered in Higashinada Ward, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. It is one of the major breweries based in Mikage-go, one of the Nada Gogo. It is also known by the nickname 'Kikumasa.' Founded long ago in Manji 2 (1659), it has led the sake industry as a major company. It is one of the long-established makers that celebrated its 350th anniversary in 2009. Long ago, when it brewed sake with water drawn from Sawanoi and presented it to Emperor Go-Daigo, he was pleased to accept it, and it is said that the family name Kano (meaning 'pleased acceptance') was bestowed on it.
