About this place
Kannabe Kogen is a highland in Hidaka, Toyooka, Hyogo Prefecture. It is designated as part of the San'in Kaigan Geopark and the Hyonosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Quasi-National Park. Mt. Kannabe (elevation 469 m), a scoria cone formed by volcanic activity about 20,000 years ago, consists of basaltic lava flows. At the summit of Mt. Kannabe a crater remains with a circumference of about 750 m and a depth of about 40 m, and there are many wind caves around it formed by volcanic activity. Together with the monogenetic volcanoes Mt. Otsukue to the northwest and Mt. Ota, Mt. Buri, and Mt. Kiyotaki to the southeast, it forms the Kannabe volcano group.
